The 2024 Ebony Williams Hunt EXcelevating Woman of the Year

This award is named in memory of Ebony Williams Hunt, who transitioned in April 2024. Ebony was a passionate supporter and advocate of EXcelevating Women, Inc., having experienced firsthand the love and support of the organization during her own journey. Her belief in the mission of EXcelevating Women and her commitment to empowering other women will forever be honored through this award, as her legacy continues to inspire and uplift others who follow in her footsteps.

Prior to 2024, the award was named The EXcelevating Woman of the Year award.

This year's recipient is Monica Joiner Hughes, a woman profoundly inspired by her grandmother, who served as a second mother and exemplified the qualities of a devoted mother, wife, and woman of God. Monica is a vibrant creator, dance minister, mother of three, devoted follower of God, sister, friend, and businesswoman. Those acquainted with her consistently admire her humor, resilience, dedication, and loyalty. Monica is frequently seen serving others and making positive contributions to her community. Her long-standing commitment to her faith and ministry has further enhanced her character and ability to overcome obstacles.

In the past year, Monica has encountered some challenges like shifts in family responsibilities, dealing with a health scare involving her daughter, and fulfilling ministry duties. Despite these hurdles, Monica has remained positive and dedicated to her objectives. Throughout a demanding and emotional year of transformation, she has managed to provide stability for her children, advance in her career, and offer support to her loved ones.

As Monica continues to support others, she is realizing the importance of investing in herself by establishing better boundaries, setting goals that bring her happiness, and being deliberate with her time. I am certain this award will bring her to tears, but I also hope it assures her that her hard work and dedication have been recognized.
